Upscale Images

Our AI upscaling uses deep neural networks trained on millions of images to intelligently add detail when enlarging. Unlike traditional resizing which just interpolates pixels, AI upscaling predicts and generates realistic details like textures, edges, and fine features that weren't in the original image.

You can upscale images by 2x, 3x, or 4x their original resolution. For example, a 500x500 pixel image can become up to 2000x2000 pixels. The optimal factor depends on your source image quality - higher quality originals produce better results at larger scales.

For best results, use source images under 1000 pixels on the longest side. The AI works best with reasonably sharp originals - heavily compressed JPEGs or very blurry images may not upscale as well. Photos, illustrations, and graphics all work well.

Most images are processed within 10-30 seconds depending on size and upscale factor. 4x upscaling takes longer than 2x. Pro and Max users get priority processing for faster results during peak times.

Our AI is trained to minimize artifacts, but results depend on source quality. Low-resolution images with heavy JPEG compression may show some smoothing or minor artifacts. For best results, start with the highest quality source available and avoid upscaling images that have already been upscaled.

You can convert any of the supported input image file format to any of the output file format. Note: upscaling animated GIFs processes only the first frame.

Due to the computational intensity of AI upscaling, batch limits are smaller than other tools. Free users can upscale 10 images per batch, Pro users get 15, and Max users can process up to 25 images at once. Each image uses credits based on the upscale factor selected.

Traditional Photoshop upscaling uses mathematical interpolation which often produces blurry results. Our AI upscaling uses neural networks that understand image content and generate realistic details. The results are typically sharper with more natural textures, especially for faces, text, and fine details.

Animated GIFs are processed frame-by-frame to preserve the highest quality. Each frame is individually optimized through our full pipeline (compression, resizing, and upscaling if selected). A 50-frame GIF costs the same as optimizing 50 individual images. You can reduce costs by lowering the GIF Frame Limit setting, which reduces the number of frames processed while preserving the animation.
